As the years go on, I feel so fortunate to have had Tom Sharp as a coach and mentor during my time as a Walnut Hills Eagle. He had both an affable, friendly demeanor while also being able to push you to bring out the best in yourself. His sense of leadership was one that I've came to appreciate more and more as I got older. From my freshman year, having never played football before and being admittedly quite terrible at first, he always showed patience support, and friendship, and never gave up on me or any of his players. You wanted to do your best for him because you knew it's what he expected from you and truly believed you could do. The lessons I learned running drills under Coach Sharp on those long hot August two-a-days have never been forgotten. As one of the last kids to get picked up after off-season weight lifting, I fondly remember many chats about his travels to Europe or tales of big games from the past.
It's beyond inspiring to know someone who lived their life doing what they loved and positively impacted so many lives while doing it. Coach Sharp's presence will be missed dearly, but I know that his impact will continue to be felt in many many lives.
Rest in peace Coach.

Coach Sharp,
I had him for drivers education class and he coached the varsity football team at Woodward. I played on the reserve team, but he was a good man. Great educator and coach. God bless your family during this difficult time. Mr. Sharp will always be apart of my life.

I was sadden when I learned of the passing of Coach Sharp. I played football under his leadership at Woodward High School (c/o 1983). Coach Sharp had great knowledge of the game of football and life which he shared freely. There's not a time when my Woodward teammates and I get together that we don't talk about Coach Sharp and the impact he made in our lives. As a junior high football coach, I constantly catch myself using "Sharpisms" to teach my kids how to be successful on the football field and in life. Rest in peace Coach Sharp.

Coach Sharp was a great teacher, communicator and always made everyone laugh without trying. I learned a lot of life lessons from Coach Sharp. He was my first head football coach. He recommended that I attend Eastern Kentucky Univ, his alma mater. He made all the difference in my life. Without Coach Sharp, there would have been no John in football. Thank you and you will be missed.

Beautiful tribute to a great man! Duff & Kip can be proud of the wonderful father you were blessed to have been given. He is now sharing the joyful celebration of eternal life with one of his favorite sisters, my mother, (Rose Sharp Dalton) and she with one of her favorite brothers (Tom.)
She was so proud of him and spoke often of his goodness. We offer our deepest sympathy to your family. May the peace of Christ be with you at this difficult time.
God bless!

Coach Sharp, you had a profound impact on my life. Not only did you teach me how to play the game of football, to block and get off blocks, but you taught me about being a decent human being and working for what I wanted. I'll never forget my time playing for you at Walnut Hills. Thank you for the many memories.
With love and appreciation,
Sean

I was very sad to see this notice in the paper today. I knew Tom (Mr Sharp :) from Woodward Highschool; obviously, as a female, not from football, but from Summer School - Driver's Training. I was 15 years old and had such a crush on him that I re-upped for a second round of Driver's Training! He was just such a kind, patient man, and since I was so shy in those days, I loved the time spent with someone who didn't see me as such a nerd.
I've remembered and thought of him over the years - I'm so sorry for the loss of this sweet, sensitive guy.
