I am deeply saddened to learn that Earl has passed away. I cherished my relationship with Earl during the 7 years we worked closely together at Region 9 of the NLRB. Earl represented the highest ideals of a public servant. He was extraordinarily bright, with an amazing recall of case law and legal principles. Moreover, his unassuming and engaging personality made everyone comfortable and appreciative of his willingness to share his knowledge and insights. His wise counsel consistently enhanced my ability to carry out the mission of the agency. Earl was a rare gem.
I wish I could attend the funeral in person but am unable to travel immediately from my home in Seattle.
