BURKE Alberta (nee Herrmann), loving and devoted wife of the late Robert M. Burke died on March 8, 2012 at the age of 94. Born in Hamilton, Ohio she was a graduate of Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. She taught first and second grades for 36 years in Jefferson Tyler primary school in Hamilton, Ohio, Madisonville Public School, Winton Place public school and Swifton primary in the Cincinnati Public school system. She nurtured the lives of over a thousand children, many of whom kept in contact with her all her life. She was a member of Immanual Presbyterian Church in Clifton and a member of Armstrong Chapel in Indian Hill. She was an avid gardener who loved ballroom dancing and family gatherings, and her passion for tennis led her to become an active member of both the Indoor Tennis Club, and the Camargo Tennis Club. She is survived by her daughter Katherine Ellen Barrett of Evendale, Ohio and son Lt. Col. Robert Burke, USMC retired of Clarence, New York. She is also survived by daughter-in-law Suzanne D. Burke, grandson David A. Davis, two granddaughters, Julia M. and Emily M. Burke and great-great granddaughter Amy M. Davis. Mrs. Burke's burial was private but the family is inviting friends and family to join them for a memorial service on Saturday, April 14th at 11AM at The Seasons Retirement Community, 7300 Dearwester Dr. (45236). Memorials may be made to Armstrong Chapel, 5125 Drake Rd. (45243).
