Mike's family & dear friends, I did not know Mike very well or for very long. He and I were on an AIA-CORA committee to develop a new awards program in 2008-09: there were 5 of us and we counted on one another for ideas, support and comic relief as we stumbled along trying to make good decisions all along the way. There were some stressful times and Mike was a good fellow to have on the team, a good person all around. I'm grateful for having made his acquaintance. I offer the following bit of prose in the hope that it might provide some consolation at this sad time (from Robert Fulghum): "I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge; that myth is more potent than history. I believe that dreams are more powerful than facts; that hope alwasy triumphs over experience; that laughter is the only cure for grief. And I believe that love is stronger than death."

I was an employee of Mike's. During that time & with much effort, he taught me more about the practice of architecture than I had learned in total to that point. He loved what he designed & made like few I have encountered. I use many of his lessons frequently with memory of his teaching. My condolences to his family & friends.
