KOREAN WAR MATHIS Harry Michael " Mike"Mathis, Jr , age 82, devoted husband of 60 years Jean Carolyn (nee Runck). Loving father of Ann (John) Schoeny , Ward (Melissa) Mathis, and devoted grandfather of Alexandra and Samantha Schoeny and Abigail and Jack Mathis. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Proceeded in death by son Harry Michael Mathis, III. , parents Harry and Lyllis Mathis and brother Ward Mathis. Mike passed away peacefully after a long illness March 3rd. Mike was a Korean War veteran and a member of the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles. Mike was a proud graduate of Kenyon College and loved his college years in Gambier. He was an active member of the Indian Hill Episcopal-Presbyterian Church, and spent many years volunteering in Over the Rhine through Sign of the Cross. The family will receive friends from 10AM until the time of funeral service 11AM on Monday March 7th in the library at Indian Hill Church, 6000 Drake Rd. (45243). The family requests donations be made to Crossroads Hospice, 4360 Glendale-Milford Rd. (45242), The Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy , GTRLC, 3860 N. Long Lake Rd., Suite D, Traverse City, MI (49684), or charity of your choice.
