Those of us in Rotary lost a special friend this week. I knew Bruce for almost forty years via the construction industry and then in 1979 as a fellow Rotarian. Bruce was one of those people who always seemed to know how to get results. That was very evident in his long marriage with Betty, their successful family, building a well respected business and of course his legendary Rotary service on both a local and international level. In the coming days, weeks and months he will be remembered for all his accomplishments and no doubt will be he subject of many memories. I and my wife were honored to have known Bruce. I will always remember how he ended his speeches at Rotary functions. He would say, "If you get into Rotary, Rotary will get into you." Thank you Bruce for your example of truly living the Rotary motto of "Service above Self."

Fortunate, indeed, are those of us who were privileged to know Bruce as a friend. And for those who shared "fellow Rotarian" status with him, it was a special blessing. Without conscious effort, he was the ultimate role model. The businessman was invariably compassionate and caring, and always had time to listen, and if pressed, offer a wise insight. He will be greatly missed, but the light of his memory will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew him. May his soul rest in peace. Dare I say, "He more than earned it!"

Bruce is a personal role model for me of successful balance in life. Balance as a respected businessman, dedicated family man, and a man who gave tremendously back to his community. I am honored to have known him.

Bruce was a hero to all of his fellow Rotarians. We all wish we had made the commitment to Rotary that Bruce did. A husband, a father, a successful businessman, he still found the ability to commit to "Service Above Self" Rotary and Rotarians are better because of Bruce. God Bless you Bruce. Brad
