POLON Dorothy "Dotty"of Atlanta, GA, formerly of Cincinnati, OH, died peacefully on Thursday, May 8, 2014. She will be fondly remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and a very dear friend to many. She is survived by her three children and their spouses: Barry (Charlotte) Polon of Timonium, MD; Patricia (Bill) Todd of San Diego, CA; Bruce(Kathy) Polon of Marietta, GA; and her two grandchildren, Joshua Polon of Los Angeles, CA and Rebecca (Leonardo) Staciarine and their son Matteo of Atlanta, GA. She was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Carl V. Polon, in August, 1991.She struggled long and hard throughout her life, showing her fighting spirit from an early age when she was orphaned. She was a woman of great faith. She was actively involved with her bible study group at her retirement community, Renaissance on Peachtree, up until her final hospitalization. Her beliefs were manifested in the strength of character that enabled her to rebound from loss, injury and illness throughout a full and happy 94 years. She never neglected charitable works and kindness to those around her. Fortunately, she was able to see all members of her immediate family shortly before she passed away. Her priest, Father John Kieran, administered the last rites and later returned for a last visit. He was a great comfort to her. She will be missed by all who knew her but who are glad that she lived such a long and fruitful life. We know that her passing is part of a transition to a better place. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, from 12:00pm until the time of Mass of Christian Burial 1:00PM at St. Gertrude Parish, 6543 Miami Ave. (45243) Madeira, OH. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 11000 Montgomery Rd. (45249) Montgomery, OH. A reception for family and friends will be held following the interment.
