Besuden David Waldemar, 96, passed away peacefully at home on August 30, 2013 surrounded by family. David, a proud 4th generation Cincinnatian was also an 81 year summer resident of Manitoulin Island, Ontario, Canada where he was happiest, especially on his beloved Lake Manitou. Since 1981 he has been a resident of Marco Island, FL. David was predeceased by the wife he adored for 66 years, Charlene, and his dear brother, George. He is survived by 4 devoted children and their spouses, Sue Nemenz (Ken) of Indian Hill, OH and Naples, FL., Dianne Hallberg of Highland Beach, FL., Debbie Geehring (Jim) of Wyoming, OH, and David Besuden (Michelle) of Loveland, OH. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren; Trey Hallberg (and fiancée Kelly Meyer), Jeffrey Hallberg (Diana), Christopher Geehring (Nicole), Logan, Alexandra and Nicolle Besuden; his great grandchildren Ricky, Ryan, Noah, and Charlie Hallberg, and Zaiden Geehring (due to come into the world this week), his dedicated sister-in-law, Connie Besuden, and loving nieces and nephews. A long-time member of Kenwood Country Club, Commodore and member of Marco Island Yacht Club and Marco Bay Yacht club, he leaves behind a wonderful, supportive group of friends. David was an astute businessman who started two successful businesses. He was a private pilot, an avid boater and outdoorsman and a skilled carpenter. During WWII, he served in the Merchant Marine (which sustained the highest casualty rating of any of the services in that war) and remained a fervent patriot throughout his life. Visitation will take place at Thomas-Justin funeral home, 7500 Montgomery Rd. in Kenwood on Sunday, Sept. 8 from 5-7 pm. Celebration of his life will be held at Old Armstrong Chapel, 8300 Indian Hill Road, Cincinnati, OH, on September 9 at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Labre Indian School (www.stlabre.org) or Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org).
