Donald Beimesche

Obituary of Donald A. Beimesche

Donald A.”Don” Beimesche passed away on November 3rd, 2023, at the age of 80. He was born in Madisonville to the late Al and Ann (Kollmann) Beimesche. Don was an only son and is survived by his four sisters: Marian (Omer) Scharold, Ruth (Don) Gumz, Flo Hampton, and Alice (Ed) Vockell. In 1971 he married Nancy (Fries) Beimesche which he said was the smartest thing he ever did. He is also survived by three sons Brian (Cory), Andy, and Brad (Aimee) and four wonderful grandchildren. Don attended St. Margaret of Cortona grade school, Purcell High School, the University of Cincinnati, and Northwestern University. He was a parishioner of St. Gertrude’s church for 45 years. Don enjoyed watching the Bearcats and Bengals but was an especially avid Cincinnati Reds fan. He would listen, watch or attend every game he possibly could. In grade school, his first job was selling newspapers in front of the old Ford transmission plant. After working part time through his school years he joined North Side Bank and Trust Company where he worked for approximately 50 years. Although Don lived his entire life on the East Side of Cincinnati, he fell in love with the community of Northside. He not only worked at the bank, he became invested in the community. He held offices and positions in the Northside Business Association, Northside-College Kiwanis Club, Northside Redevelopment Group, CAIN and other volunteer groups. He also worked with the City of Cincinnati to obtain funding to develop off-street parking and other neighborhood improvements. In 1988, when the City of Cincinnati celebrated their Bicentennial; he was one of 200 Cincinnatians recognized for his “outstanding contribution to the Greater Cincinnati Community”. Don often said his bank customers were not just customers, they were friends, and he treated them that way. Many of these friendships remained until his death. Long after he retired, many long-time customers would ask after him and share how they missed him. Don felt the same way about his customers. Shortly after retirement, Don was diagnosed with Parkinson Disease. This slowed him down but didn’t stop him. He continued his volunteerism, attending Reds games, and traveling as long as he could. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, November 15th, 2023 at St. Gertrude Church at 6543 Miami Avenue in Madeira. A reception will be held immediately following the Mass in the parish center. In lieu of flowers a donation in Don’s name to Parkinson Community Fitness at 9687 Kenwood Road, Cinti. OH 45242 would be appreciated.
