Dear Danielle and family,
We will always remember Chris with his beautiful smile and sense of humor. He was so warm and welcoming to everyone. I felt such a bond because of the fact that both of us were teachers and then administrators. I’m sure he was the very best at that.
I wish we lived closer so that we could have been present to show our love and support of the entire family. Sending our love now and always.
Know that Chris is resting in God’s arms.

My kids and I are heart broken to hear about Chris! Chris was the assistant Principal at Mercer Elementary in the Forest Hills School District. My twin sons; Jake and John were extremely close with him. Chris coined their nickname as The Quigs bros, since their last name is Quigley. The twins and Chris had fun on St. Patrick's day with their outfits. Chris always had a smile on his face when you would see him. He was so in touch with all of the kids! He was one of the kindest gentlemen I have ever known. Our hearts and prayers go out to Chris's parents, his wife, and their children. We were all so Blessed to have known such a wonderful man. May God Bless the Flanagan family.
From the Quigs bros- Jake and John. We will dearly miss you our dear friend.

I worked with Chris at Whitaker he was so much fun and great teacher.Lots of great talks also he tried to convince my youngest to go to college at StMichaels she applied but too far away. He would laugh to find out she is a practicing Doctor in Maine and New Hampshire and loves it up there. So do we. My prayers with the family and I cherish all the great memories I have of him he definitely was one of a kind. Great fondness Sue Mueller

I knew Chris's father, Jerry, very well. When I saw the story on the news throughout the weekend. Finally, it dawned on me that Chris is Jerry's son. Chris looks just like his Dad. I was not surprised to hear how beloved Chris was. Jerry was the same type of man ... kind, respectful, giving, honest, genuine. My wholehearted thoughts and prayers are with Chris's family and all the Flanagan family.
God bless, Bob McDermott

A bunch of us knew Chris when he taught at Whitaker. We had the deaf and hard-of-hearing students. He was phenomenal with our kids and staff. He will be sorely missed by everyone in education.

Chris was my colleague in Forest Hills. We were assistant principals together, and then principals together. Chris made every meeting better. He brought joy to the most mundane of situations. He made me laugh, and always helped me get through the most difficult of challenges. I was sad when he left our district, but knew his heart was in Madeira. We were friends as well as colleagues, and I was blessed to know him. My heart aches for Danielle and his children, but his joy will always be with them.

Someone said “Chris showed love to kids who were at sometimes hard to show love to.” They we’re absolutely correct and we lived that experience. Chris’s impact on our children was invaluable and immeasurable. My wife and I would dream about the future and our kids eventual graduation from Madeira and the first person we were going to look for to hug and high five was Chris because he was the one who kept our kids on the right track.
God bless-
The Hart Family

To think of ONE memory is hard, because every week day over the last 2 school years, we were creating memories. Chris wasn’t only my boss… he was my friend. We often joked about being related. Somewhere deep in the past, we HAD to be from the same family. We were convinced… we came from an Irish, catholic family.. had dark features… were sometimes (ok lots of times) unnecessarily hyperactive. He was my brother. His love for MES, its students, their families and the staff was inspirational. It was so nice to see such a big personality, be so gentle and kind. If I was sick (yes, nurses get ill too) Chris would always say “if you’re sick, stay home… take care of yourself”. Family 1st was at the top of his list, next to his faith. If I couldn’t find coverage he would proudly sit at my desk with his laptop and be “Nurse Flanagan”, which the children AND CHRIS secretly loved. He would text me things like, “Is 234 students too many kids to send home in one day?” He had a way of making you feel heard, important and loved. He too… was important, heard and loved.
Danielle, Jack, Molly, Emma and Maggie… nothing, no words or time can make these feelings go away. Time just makes us tolerate these feelings differently. Please know, he was loved and so are you. “If love could have saved you. you would have lived forever.”
My all who knew and loved Chris find some small amount of peace in his memory.
-Amy Mueller

Chris was a kind, fun-loving person with a deep passion for helping others be their best. If you met him, you’d remember him, as his warmth and acceptance of others was always a comfort. He wanted to build confidence in others, help them believe in themselves and the difference they were making for students. He strived to lead by example but remained humble. His smile and caring heart were infectious. My condolences and prayers to all his loved ones.

Chris went out of his way to be there for his students. His actions always made students feel important. When he was at Ayer he came to a basketball game for my son’s team. It made their day. He was always doing special things for students, like sleeping on the roof and reading them a bed time story through a video cam. He lit up the room wherever he was. These memories will shine forever.

I came to Madeira in the summer of 2021 to run the Champions Program. During the first meeting Chris shared what his expectations were for the program. From that day forward he made sure he was there to help and mentor me. Every milestone we reached he was there to cheer us on. I will never forget him and what he expected of me. I will miss talking football and being silly with him. Chris was one of kind!

I hope you knew how much of an impact you had on the people that came into contact with you. You made us feel like we mattered. You always put PEOPLE above all else. You recognized that it's human connection that keeps us going. You sprinkled those seeds of connection in all the areas that you touched. Thank you Chris, we are better because of you.

The Heath family met Chris for the first time at a Madeira Lacrosse Club meeting at our home. We really wanted to make an impression, so our nephew backed into his parked car! We were so embarrassed! Chris just laughed and said he could relate as his son, Jack, was a relatively new driver, too. He offered us grace and kindness in just a laugh and a smile. This is the quality I will most remember about Chris; his smile that brightened any day. Chris was a good man, a family man who you could tell adored his family and loved being a dad. Madeira has lost a guiding light and the world has lost a shining star, but we are better people for having known Chris and having shared in his light if just for a moment. We will miss you, Chris, and we will hold your family in our hearts and prayers, so that they will never feel alone.
All our Love,
Kim and John Heath
