David Taylor, Sr.

Obituary of David E. Taylor, Sr.

David Edward Taylor Sr passed away on December 22, 2021. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on September 5, 1931, and graduated from Withrow High School, going on to receive a degree in Business Administration from the University of Cincinnati. After college, he served in the counter-intelligence corps of the United States Army from 1955-57. In 1956, he married Deborah M. Muster, and together, they raised three children, divorcing in 1973. In 1975, he married Maureen Pfeiffer, with whom he shared 46 loving years until his recent passing. Dave was the 4th generation in the Taylor family business, which began as a drayage service in the mid-19th century and grew to become Taylor Distributing, then Taylor Warehouse Corporation under his leadership. Dave developed the business with a keen eye to incorporate the latest technological innovations in supply chain logistics. Continuing this tradition, the business has evolved as Crescent, a multi-state, international supply chain firm, under the leadership of his son, Christopher Taylor. Dave was also active in his community, serving on the boards of the Indian Hill School District, Indian Hill Swim Club and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. He was a member of the Optimists in the Queen City Club and enjoyed sharing the pleasures of fine food and wine with friends and family. He loved music of all types and was a regular attendee at concerts of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. He enjoyed many travels and cruises but was also very happy working on projects and hobbies around their home. He is survived by his wife, Maureen, and children Stephan Taylor (Elizabeth Stumbo) and Christopher Taylor (Dina), and grandchildren Rachel and Sarah Taylor, Matthew, Alec and Katherine Taylor, Bianca and Luca Mannerino. He was pre-deceased by his son, David Taylor, Jr (Amy Walanski). Visitation will occur at St. Gertrude Church, 6543 Miami Ave in Madeira, Ohio, on January 3, 2022, from 8:30 – 9:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30. For those planning to attend, while not required, the family prefers attendees to be vaccinated. The family requests that all those attending be fully masked during both events and practice social distancing. Donations in Dave’s memory may be made to Queen City Hospice or the charity of one’s choice.
