Our most sincere sympathies go out to Rosemary, Ray, Lisa, Megan, Dominic, Tyler, Erin and Laurie. Mike was the closest person I ever had to a being a brother and we sure did have some great fishing and camping experiences over the years. There will always be a lifetime of memories of our adventures stored away in my mind and every one of them brings a smile. His passing after such a short time here is a very sad thing indeed. Our prayers are with you all during this time of sorrow and sadness.

When we were teenagers, Mike and I were on Cowan Lake at one of our favorite Crappie fishing spots. He got his line tangled in a bush on shore, and I motored the little 12 foot fishing boat closer so he could get unsnagged. As the bow of the boat pushed into the bush, Mike suddenly jumped back into the middle of the boat, thrashing about, and yelling "Snake in the bush, snake in the bush! Get out of here!" He was splayed on the bottom of the boat, kicking his feet toward the bush, and I was laughing so hard I could hardly breath. When he finally calmed down, we realized that it wasn't a snake, but some torn shreds of a plastic garbage bag. Of course, this set me off laughing so hard again that I thought I would bust a rib. He got me back later when we were fishing from shore, and he caught a little crappie. He unhooked it and threw it at me, and its fins stuck me right in the back of my left hand. I think I still have a small scar from that! We shared lots of fun and great times hunting and fishing together.
