Our sincere condolences to the family. The Bible has beautiful and comforting scriptures to help cope with the grief and sadness. I pray that the family will find comfort in the promise for the future at Isaiah 26:19; “Your dead will live. And the earth will let those powerless in death come to life”. To learn more about this promise please visit our website: jw.org and view the comforting video; What is the Condition of the Dead?

As three of Carol’s nephews we want to paint a picture of our childhood and her role in our lives. Understand, that as children our extended family of cousins, aunts and uncles were intertwined on an almost daily basis. Our cousins were and are our best friends. Our parents, aunts and uncles were the foundation of that extended family. These were precious years and Aunt Carol was central to that foundation. This picture is not of any one particular day, but rather a compilation of so many visits to the Jacobs household that the wonderful memories just flow into a sea of beautiful thoughts of our Aunt Carol and Uncle George.
It could be Christmas time, Thanksgiving, or any one of a number of children’s birthdays. It could just be a beautiful summer day where George and Carol invited the family over for a cookout. Upon arriving at their home on Tiki Avenue, a knock on the door always brought a smiling Carol to the door where you would be greeted with a giant hug. After entering the home, you would be overcome with sights, sounds and smells that every child in the world should be lucky enough to experience. During the winter you would first smell and hear the crackling of a warm fire in the fireplace and the faint smell of a George’s pipe. During the summer you would smell the delicious food and hear the sounds of a water fountain in the backyard. Perhaps a Reds game on the TV or radio, the laughter of kids, the non-stop talking of the teenagers, the phone ringing, and the doorbell again and again. It was glorious commotion the likes of Grand Central Station. It was Grand Central Station for all of us that were a part of this loving family that had an open door policy to all family, neighbors and friends and we were all happy to be there. In fact everyone wanted to be there. It was an atmosphere of warmth, love and welcome. An atmosphere that Carol created for all of us.
In the kitchen was the preparation of a meal. Kibbeh, grape leaves, meat pies, birthday cakes, shadiah and of course the huge “Aunt Carol salad” that everyone could not wait to dig into. There was never an event where there was any salad left, just a big empty bowl. But it wasn’t just about the food, Aunt Carol made that kitchen the center of the universe. A place where people could talk, feel comfortable, be happy and be loved. She would always ask you about your life because she genuinely cared about your life and all the exciting things that were important you you. That kitchen and her home was a cocoon of happiness built by Carol. Our Aunt Carol had a profoundly positive influence on our lives and, very importantly, during those years of our lives where that influence had a lifelong impact. We are truly blessed to have had her in our world. We know she is in a better place waiting to greet us someday again with a smile and a hug. Would that all of humanity had the blessing of such a woman in their lives.
We miss you and love you. – The Jacobs brothers
