Obituary of Robert B. Grant

It is with deepest sadness that we share the passing of Robert Barton Grant. Robert died peacefully on Friday March 22nd, 2024. Bobby is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Sharon Grant, his loving children Alisa (Don) McCloud, Tracy Wagner, Steven Grant, and Amanda Hobbs, his cherished grandchildren Joshua, Jasmine, Jessica, Zachary, and Kathryn, and great-grandchildren Dorian, Liam, Addison, Colton, Georgia, Remington, and Hudson. He is also survived by his dear sister Brenda Sue (Eddie) and many nieces and nephews. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Charles and Sarah Grant, and his siblings Charles (Pearl), Sam (Margie), Edmond (Dallas), Jeanette (Lester), Jesse (Jerry), and Billy Ray. Bobby was born in Kenvir, Kentucky on May 14, 1939. He married Sharon on October 18, 1958, and they soon moved to Cincinnati, Ohio. Bobby worked for Ford Motor Company for 48 years and was a dedicated employee who always took pride in his work. While he used to joke that his only real hobby was his wife, Bobby also enjoyed photography, watching football and basketball, listening to gospel music, and fussing over his dog Lilly. His true love, though, was his family. Bobby and Sharon met when they were in high school and he pursued her quite relentlessly, walking several miles every evening so that he could take her to movies when he had a quarter to spare or the local diner where they could share a coke-he was happy just as long as he got to spend time with her. They soon married and spent the next 65 years raising their family, and Bobby dedicated himself to being the best possible father and husband that he could. Bobby loved the Lord fiercely, and that love shined through in his interactions with others. Bobby was steady and kind, and his heart was generous in so many ways, from donating to numerous causes like the City Gospel Mission and Ruth Lyons Christmas Fund to making sure the birds and squirrels in his backyard were always well-fed. Bobby was a quiet man, though those who loved him can attest that he had quite the snarky, wicked sense of humor. He was also a humble man, who shied away from compliments or big displays. But he was always quick to hold you when he saw you needed a hug. And Bobby saved so many little gifts and cards his children and grandchildren gave him over the years, tucked safely away in drawers and boxes, not because they were worth anything to the world, but because they meant the world to him. That love Bobby so freely gave will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone whose life he touched. We will miss him terribly, but we take comfort in knowing that he is with his Heavenly Father and with his loved ones who have gone before him. And we know that he is waiting for us now, peaceful in the knowledge that the love and strength he gave us will sustain us until we are able to see him again in heaven. The family will receive friends from 12Noon until the time of the funeral service, 1PM at the mausoleum at Graceland Memorial Park, 5389 Deerfield Rd. (45150) Milford. Bishop Patrick McCloud will be officiating.
