Obituary of Catherine "Kay" Woebkenberg

Catherine (Kay) Louise Woebkenberg (nee Schubeler), aged 86, passed away on Tuesday, March 19th at Bethesda North Hospital. A natural caretaker, she enjoyed a lengthy career in nursing before retiring to Florida with her husband, Tom, where her days were filled with friends, golf, books, and endless amounts of laughter. She moved back to Ohio in 2017 to be closer to her family and spent her time volunteering and socializing with friends, both new and old. Dedicated to her faith, Kay was a parishioner of St. Gertrude Church. She was the oldest of Grace and Carl Schubeler’s seven children and is survived by sisters Donna Schlake, Linda Linde and Debbie Graham and by brother Pete Schubeler. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Tom, and leaves behind two children, Kitty Reuther (Walt) and Tom Woebkenberg (Janet); eight grandchildren, Samantha Rhoney (Brian), Courtney Cloran (Kevin), Allison Reuther, Robert Reuther (Olivia), Sarah Woebkenberg, Matt Woebkenberg (Lauren), Katie Woebkenberg, and Maddie Woebkenberg, as well as four great-grandchildren: Luke Cloran, Riley Cloran, Charlotte Rhoney and Waylon Reuther. Visitation will be Monday, March 25th from 5-7 p.m. at Thomas-Justin Memorial, 7500 Montgomery Rd. (45236). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 26th at 9:30 a.m. at St. Gertrude Church, 6543 Miami Ave. (45243).
