Lawrence B. “Larry” McCord, 88, of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2023. Beloved husband of Evelyn Banzhaf McCord, loving father of Kelly McCord and Allison Banzhaf. Brother of Nelda Sheafer, Suzannah (Jerry) Woelkers, and the late Maribeth Brackvill. He was also survived by his brother-in-law, Robert Brackvill, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank F. and Nancy E. (nee Burroughs) McCord. Larry attended Withrow High School and the University of Cincinnati. He also served in the United States Army from 1954-1956. He was the owner of McCord Insurance Agency and served as past President of the Independent Insurance Agents of Ohio. Larry was a longtime resident of Mt. Adams, and owned a popular Mt. Adams restaurant, Mahogany Hall. He felt proud being a 32nd Degree Mason as well as a member of the Scottish Rite. Larry was appointed to the Executive Order of the Ohio Commodores, an organization created by Gov. James A. Rhodes, to recognize individuals for their contributions to the economic development in Ohio. He was also a member of the Queen City Association. Friends are invited to visit with Larry’s family on Friday, October 13th, from 10:30AM until the time of the funeral service, 11:30AM at Thomas-Justin Memorial, 7500 Montgomery Rd. (45236) Kenwood. A celebration in honor of Larry’s life will follow all services at approximately 1:15PM at Banz Studios, 221 McFarland St. (45202) Downtown. Because of Larry’s deep love of animals, the family is asking that any donations be directed to the SPCA, Attn. Donor Relations, 11900 Conrey Rd. (45249), or online at SPCACincinnati.org.
