Obituary of Donald G. Gates, Sr.

GATES Donald G., Sr, beloved husband of Patricia A. (nee Osborne), cherished father of Denise (Todd) Davis, Donald (Nancy) Gates, Jr., Rebecca (Sarah) Burns, Justin (Alicia) Gates, Patricia Bledsoe, and Bobbie Jean Crank, devoted grandfather of Donald Davis, Katelyn Gates, Ashely Gates, Conner Gates, Addyson Gates, Eli Gates, Allison Hable, Maddison Hable, Payton Hable, Shane Crank, Shawn Crank, Josh Crank, and the late Brandi Crank. Loving brother of Dan Gates, the late Richard Gates and Diane Wilhelm. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Richard, and Julia (nee Aufderheide) Gates. He was survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Don was proud U.S. Navy Veteran, serving in the Vietnam War, and a long-time member and past president of the American Legion Post 554. He was the custodian at St. Margaret of Cortona School and Church for over 37 years. Everyone knew Mr. Gates and loved him very much. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 19th from 9AM until the time of Memorial Mass at 10AM at St. Margaret-St. John Parish, 6000 Murray Ave. (45227). Inurnment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the American Legion Post 554, 3712 Southern Ave. (45227).
