Obituary of Dr. Glenn Wm. Pfister

Glenn was born in Newport, Kentucky on January 9, 1922. After high school, he attended the University of Dayton and received his Bachelor of Science degree. He went on to the St. Louis University of Medicine where he received his Doctorate. He then did a rotating internship at Bethesda Hospital in Cincinnati. He joined the U.S. Army and was assigned to the Veteran’s Administration Medical Teaching Group in Memphis, TN, as a Captain in the Medical Corps. After his military service, he began his private family practice in Cincinnati, OH. His practice covered the years from 1948 to 1991. During his practice he was well regarded by all who knew him. His hospital affiliations included Bethesda, Christ, and Good Samaritan hospitals in Cincinnati. His professional medical affiliations included the America Medical Association, the Ohio State Medical Association, the American Association of Family Practice, the Ohio Association of Family Practice, and the Southwestern Ohio Society of Family Physicians. He was an instructor of Medicine at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in the 1960s. He and his wife traveled the world. Locally he was a member of the Kenwood Country Club, as well as a long-time member of the St. Martin Hunt Club, where he served as President for many years. He was a 50-year subscriber to The Cincinnati Symphony. Dr. Pfister was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha (nee Chaney), and his parents, Glenn and Dorothy (nee Nieto) Pfister. He has left behind to remember him, his wife June (nee Coffey) Pfister, son, Glenn William III (Sharon) Pfister, stepdaughters, Lauree (Kevin) Kaiser, and Cathy (Fred, Jr.) Oehler, his grandchildren, Michael Moser, Anna and William Pfister, and Katie Whitson, Kelly Kaiser, Rachel Oehler, and Fred Oehler, III, and great-grandchild Kayden. Dr. Pfister passed away on Monday, June 21st at the age of 99. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 25th from 9AM until the time of Mass of Christian Burial, 10:30AM at Church of the Nativity, 5935 Pandora Ave, Cincinnati (45213).
