Obituary of Barb Steele-McMullen

STEELE Barb Steele-McMullen, age 88, wife, mother, sister, grandma, great-grandma “GG”, friend, and creator of the infamous STEELE FAMILY FUN WEEK. On July 11, 2020, she was reunited with her parents, William and Kathryn Geisler, sisters, Rose Mary and Dolores, and her late husband Bill McMullen. She also joined first true love, Ty Steele and her beloved son, Andy to whom she devoted endless love and care until their last breath. Barb leaves her legacy of strength, perseverance, cherishing family, making memories, playing cards, singing songs, making up lyrics and enjoying life to her children Laura (Bill), Kate (Don), Ty (Lisa), Tom (Mimi), and Jamie (Christine), as well as her 15 grandchildren, Carrie (Josh), Willy (Jo), Beth (Rob), Holly (Eddie), Danny, Hilary (Josh), Katelyn, Becca, Josh (Brooke), Jess (Cara), Zack, Kelcey, Cassidy, Cian, Aine and 16 great-grandchildren. Barb was proud of her big family and loved to brag about them to anyone who would listen, and to some who didn’t listen. She was a long-time parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Deer Park where she remained active until moving to the Lodge Retirement Community in 2012. Barb’s spunky attitude, creative talents and most importantly her friendship will be missed by so many, but she will certainly never be forgotten. Barb’s family would like to invite her friends to join them for a graveside service. On Friday, July, 17th, you can meet them at the funeral home parking lot to drive in procession at 11AM at 7500 Montgomery Rd. (45236) or at the front gate of Gate of Heaven Cemetery, at 11:30AM, 11000 Montgomery Rd (45242). But if desired, tributes to her memory can be directed toward either the Ohio Valley Residential Services, 2261 Victory Parkway (45206), or the Down Syndrome Association of Cincinnati, 4623 Wesley Ave., Suite A (45212).
