Obituary of Eric Lauer

Brother Eric Lauer, CFP 1933-2020 Brother Eric Lauer, a Brother of the Poor of Saint Francis since 1955, passed onto the Lord on Friday, February 28, 2020 at Carmel Manor, Fort Thomas, KY where he had lived for the past five years. Brother Eric was born and raised in Coupon, PA near Altoona. He entered the Brothers' novitiate in Cincinnati, OH on March 19, 1955. He made his profession of vows two years later with his final profession in August, 1962. During his years as a Franciscan Brother he served as a teacher and librarian at Mount Alverno School for Boys, Cincinnati, Morris School for Boys, Searcy, AR, St. Paul School, Pocahontas, AR, Assumption School, Northvale, NJ and Schroder Manor, Hamilton, OH. He received a teaching degree from Mount St. Joseph College, Cincinnati, and library science certification from St. Francis College, Loretto, PA. In his retired years Brother Eric volunteered to assist the elderly at Schroder Manor. During his time at Carmel Manor he was faithful to daily Mass, was involved in arts and crafts, and enjoyed weekly bingo games and volleyball. His funeral Mass will be at Carmel Manor Chapel on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 10AM. Burial will be in Saint Joseph New Cemetery, Cincinnati. Brother Eric is survived by his Franciscan Brothers, his sister Doris Johnston of Ashville, PA and several nieces and nephews.
