WILLIAM JUSTIN WENTZ
June 25, 1933 - September 28, 2019
He was a son of the Depression, his mother once sold apples on Wall Street, his father worked on the docks, as a youth Bill did not sit idly by, he was an achiever, his grade school teacher Mrs. Rabinowitz called him the smartest boy in Brooklyn, he became the youngest Eagle Scout in Brooklyn at age 14, he joined the Navy at 17, the day before the Korean War was declared, he served with honor as an aviation radio operator until his discharge, he went to Cornell University majoring in Hotel Administration, married the love of his life, and soon thereafter started what would become his lifelong career in food service, meanwhile, he and his wife became the proud parents of seven children.
He was my brother, 8.5 years the elder, the wiser, supportive, of good humor, a great sense of humor, fun to be around, great to be around, we became bros, we became good friends, seeing each other only occasionally because of the distance, e-mailing mostly, the messages were oft times humorous and heart felt, our families usually got together for major occasions, he and his bride’s 50th wedding anniversary celebration at Hilton Head, the boys scattering Dad’s ashes in the ocean off Bald Head Island.
It was my honor to have known Bill, we shared a love of family and family history. He will be missed by all of us. God bless you Bro. May you Rest In Peace.
Love, Bro.
