Obituary of Dr. Albert Schreiner

Dr. Albert William Schreiner, III passed away on August 16, 2018 at the age of 92. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Gail. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Jean, son David (Nancy), grandchildren Andrew (Liz), Maggie (Bryan) Walker, Libby (David) Scott, William, and four great-grandchildren Charlotte, Henry and Clara Schreiner and Blair Walker. Dr. Schreiner completed his undergraduate degree in 1947 followed by a Doctor of Medicine at the University of Cincinnati in 1949. He interned and completed residency work at both Cincinnati General Hospital and the VA Hospital. He served as Captain in the U.S. Army in Korea and Japan. Dr. Schreiner practiced medicine from 1949 to 2014. He was Director of the Christ Hospital Department of Internal Medicine for 25 years and founded the Christ Hospital Internal Medicine Residency Program which he directed for 12 years. He has been honored for Excellence in Clinical Medicine by the Christ Hospital and received the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award in May of 2018. A member of the University of Cincinnati Internal Medicine faculty for more than 40 years, Dr. Schreiner achieved Professor Emeritus, Department of Internal Medicine in 1993. Dr. Schreiner’s expertise contributed as consultant to the medical director of General Electric, serving as medical director for United Home Care Hospice, chairing the United Home Care Agency, serving the IRB Review Board of the Christ Hospital, as an investigator for the Sterling Research Group, and many other Boards and professional groups throughout his career. A celebration of Bill’s life will be held Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Indian Hill Church, 6000 Drake Road, Cincinnati, OH 45243. Visitation in the Church Guild Hall from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. followed by a 1 p.m. Funeral Service. Private Family burial to follow at St. Mary Cemetery.
