WILKE

Wayne F., born May 23, 1930, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2017. Preceded in death by his parents, Harry Wilke and Ruth Wilke (LaSance), he was a graduate of Denison University and Salmon P. Chase School of Law, where he later served as an adjunct professor. Wayne had a long history of public service, having served as a member and president of the Cincinnati Board of Education, member and president of the Board of Trustees of Cincinnati State, Hamilton County Treasurer, member of the Cincinnati Recreation Commission, member and chairman of the Board of the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System, member of the Board of Trustees of the Cincinnati Ballet and two terms as the Probate Judge of Hamilton County, Ohio. He was the founder/member of the law firm of Wilke and Goering. Wayne was a friend and mentor to many young people including Cody McLain to whom he was a surrogate grandfather after the death of his parents and grandfather, and Brady Eyer who cared for him in his final illness.  His friends are grateful to Atria Northgate Park and Queen City Hospice for their care in his final illness. A memorial service will be held at the Covenant First Presbyterian Church, 717 Elm Street, Cincinnati, Ohio on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at 11:30 a.m., with a reception to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wayne F. Wilke Memorial Fund at the Great Parks Foundation, 10245 Winton Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45231 or to the charity of your choice.
