ARMY AIR CORPS WWII SHAFER George “Yatz” William, 98, WWII Veteran, passed away on November 2, 2016, after making people smile at Shafer’s Tavern for 63 years. We will always remember his words, “Don’t Go”! “Keep Smiling”! Devoted husband of the late Rita Agnes (nee Benner), cherished father of Tim (Jody), Dave (Peggy), Bill (Barb), Mark (Becky) and the late Jim (Carol) Shafer. Loving grandfather of 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one on the way. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and other family. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 7th from 5-8PM at Thomas-Justin Memorial, 7500 Montgomery Rd. (45236) Kenwood. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 8th at 9:30AM at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, 6543 Miami Ave. (45243). Interment will immediately follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Way, Memphis, TN (38105), or the charity of giver’s choice.
