WW II Veteran DEITERS Robert Erwin (Lucky, Bob), age 94, died July 29, 2010, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was born February 11, 1916 to the late john B. and Ludwina Deiters in downtown Cincinnati. He was the beloved husband (66 years) of the late Catherine E. Deiters; the beloved father of Robert H. (Barb) Deiters; Rose Marie (David Nutick) McConn; Catherine (Bob) Burdett; Dolly Deiters McKay; and Rae (Rick) Buschmeier. He was special grandfather to Michael Deiters, Brandon Buschmeier, "Golden Gramps" to Katie and Jayme McKay, and great-grandfather to Andrew Deiters. He was step-grandfather to Nicole and Dwayne Nutick, Beth Hudson and Bob Burdett. He leaves his brother Richard Deiters and was preceded in death by brother John and sister Myrtle. As a child, he played baseball and basketball; as an adult, he enjoyed bowling, golf and horse racing. He worked for, and sang for Remington Rand's Band. A devout Catholic, he was an active member at St. Mark Catholic Church and later St. Vincent Ferrer for 46 years providing a powerful voice for their choir. Bob served as an Army Captain in World War II (1941-1946) in Okinawa as General Simon Buckner's Aide and then served in Korea. He was employed 35 years at Hess and Eisenhardt holding various positions; he was especially proud of the trim work he did for limos used by U.S. Presidents and other world figures. Lucky's sense of humor was his trademark, especially corny jokes and puns. Although quite the character (as evidenced by his t-shirts) he had a soft and big heart, and readily made friends with everyone. He will forever be in his family's hearts and will be sorely missed. We have been very blessed to share his life. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Sunday, August 1st from 1-3pm at Thomas-Justin Memorial, 7500 Montgomery Rd. (45236). Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 2nd at 10AM at St. Vincent Ferrer Church, 7754 Montgomery Rd. (45236). Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
